With us you can vacation in Värmland, your way. For those who want to relax, Turistgården is a quiet place close to the lake and nature. Rent our boat and take a
fishing trip when the lake is completely mirror-like or fill your lungs with fresh air
during a forest walk.

For those who want experiences, there is a lot to discover in the area around Töcksfors. For example, do as photographers and artists from all over the world and visit the eerie car cemetery in Båstnäs.

If you want shopping, Töcksfors shopping center and Töcksfors shopping park are
not far away, or perhaps take a day trip over to Oslo. Take a bus from the town center or take your own car. There is also a wide range of theater, music and attractions. Don’t miss the nightlife at Aker Brygge, shopping at Karl Johan and museums at Bygdöy.

Our Journey

Turistgården's journey is a story about an old building that grew into multiple houses with beautiful scenery, but also a story about a desire to meet people based on their needs and wishes.

It all started with a large and beautiful house from 1828, which over the years has been a parish house, school and youth centre. This beautiful building and its fantastic location overlooking Lake Töck was the perfect fit for a hostel, which became a reality in the summer of 2000. Turistgården had four rooms to rent out to guests who had travelled to the lovely landscape of Värmland.

The hostel was named Turistgården (translates roughly to the tourist-farm) even though it was just one building, because right from the start there were big plans for the future of the place. The once lonely house would one day be surrounded by more buildings. No sooner said than done. After a couple of years, an annex with 7 more rooms was built and over the years more buildings have been added.

The motivation has always been to be able to welcome more guests to an accommodation that suits them. In 2007 we opened our suite, which at the time was Sweden's first suite in a hostel. Then, small cottages and several rooms were built. In 2019, we took another step on our journey when our Bed & Breakfast opened its doors.

Although the old house was renovated in parallel with the opening of the Turistgården and is now not only a house but an entire yard with multiple buildings, it has remained a place where people can stay. In the past to learn to read and write or to socialize with friends, and now to spend the night in a cottage, a room or a suite.

Our guests are different, that’s why we have different accommodations. You may be
coming to us for some peace and quiet or to work far from home. Maybe you’re staying for a night or a week. Rent a cottage, a hotel room or a suite. What you have in common with all our guests is that you’re on a journey. Just like us.

Because even though Turistgården’s idyllic location in Töcksfors in Värmland makes it easy to believe that the red-painted houses have always been there, we have come a long way from the start to this day A journey driven by the fact that you who come to us should be able to stay in a way that suits you.
